Escenario central de los Juegos Olímpicos (de invierno) de 2002; la ciudad no fue sede del Mundial 1994. El Rice-Eccles es la casa de Real Salt Lake y del equipo de fútbol americano de la Universidad de Utah. Posee capacidad para 46.500 espectadores.
